Services

I use a combination of the following techniques in most massage sessions. Your individual session will be customized to address your specific issues and goals.

Swedish Massage

The most common type of massage. A Swedish massage uses long rhythmic strokes, kneading, and friction across the muscle fibers. Swedish massage focuses on soothing muscles and inducing relaxation.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage uses Swedish massage techniques, but with firmer pressure and focus on the deep muscles, tendons and fascia in the body. Deep tissue massage is used to address chronic pain and deep tension. Massage may sometimes be uncomfortable, but it should never be painful. I do not use extremely hard pressure, and I will not hurt you.

Sports Massage

Sports massage (also called athletic massage) uses a combination of techniques to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy targets painful areas that refer to and affect other areas of the body. Sustained pressure is used to deactivate an overly tense muscle. Clients participate by providing feedback to help identifying trigger points.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) uses gentle, sustained pressure. MFR gently stretches the skin to elongate or loosen muscles at a slow, steady pace and has a calming effect on the nervous system. My MFR sessions are highly interactive with full client participation in identifying problem areas.
